We are pleased to offer for sale this extremely rare (just 1 of 42) and excellent condition Mark King Fender Signature Jazz Bass complete with original case, all case candy (sealed and unused) in excellent condition. It even includes the original Fender Arbiter distributor delivery note. The Mark King Fender Signature Jazz Bass never appeared in any global Fender marketing as it was a product between the UK distributor at the time (Arbiter London) and Mark King. The bass started life as a Fender Deluxe Jazz Bass in translucent blue which then had the addition of several custom features, the most striking of which was the addition of S.I.M.S. L.E.D.s for the front and side dots in blue, to match the paintwork. A chrome plated cover on the back of the instrument confirms the number of the run (in this case, #05).
The bass had a confused entry to the market, with difficulty as to the marketing of the instrument. The first batch of instruments suffered with a large range of colour shades of the blue being present. In this first release of basses, Mansons Guitar Shop sold three excellent examples of the bass (all in the “correct” darker blue colour that reflected the shade Mark King was seen using) however only after taking delivery of six instruments and rejecting three of them for colour shade variances. Having wanted one of the original six, the seller of this bass fell foul of the rejected basses and gave up owning a Mark King Jazz Bass. Several years later the then Fender representative, recalling our passion for excellent examples of the Mark King Jazz Bass gave us a call to confirm that during a stock check a whole pallet of these basses had been found at the back of the Fender Arbiter warehouse! Amongst the dozen or so instruments there were clearly some of the rejected basses from previous but also some New Old Stock untouched excellent examples. Of the entire run, #05 was selected as the best example where it has remained in a collection since being used mainly for promotional photography (Bass Guitar Magazine). Original hard case included. All case candy is still sealed and present. Set up ready to play or to keep as a very limited example of a very rare bass in the artist correct colour and specification.
